Somerset Public Schools and Somerset Berkley Regional School District are committed to promoting and protecting children’s health and well being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity, by addressing the following requirements in the local wellness policy, as established by Section 204 of the Child Nutrition and WIC Reauthorization Act of 2004:

•  Goals for nutrition education, physical activity and other school based activities
  

•  Nutrition Guidelines selected by the Somerset Public Schools and Somerset Berkley Regional School District for all foods available on each school campus under the district’s objectives of promoting student health and reducing childhood obesity 

• Guidelines for reimbursable school meals, which are no less restrictive than regulations and guidance issued by the Secretary of Agriculture 

• A plan for measuring implementation of the local wellness policy 

• Community Involvement, including parents, students and representatives of the school food authority, the school board, school administrators and the public in the development of the school wellness policy
